MRS. S. WADSWORTH Our Wakefield correspondent wrote on December 2nd : —

There died on Tuesday at the residence of her son-in-law (Mr Chas. Burn) another old identity, in the person of Mrs Susannah Wadsworth. Mr Wadsworth was the daughter of the late Mr James Gledhill, and was born in 1833 at Rastrick, in Yorkshire, and came out with her parents in the ship, "Prince of Wales," in 1841. She was married to the late Mr John Wadsworth in Mr Otterson's parlour by the late Bishop Hobhouse in 1852, her husband predeceasing her by two years. They had lived either in Nelson or Waimea West until eight years ago, when they took up their residence with Mrs Chas. Burn. Mrs Wadsworth was well known as one of the first to help her neighbours in any sickness, and thereby gained the love and respect of the early settlers in the Waimeas, having shared with them their privations and hardships. The surviving members of the family are: Mr Henry Wadsworth, of Wairau Valley; Mr John Wadsworth, 88 Valley; Mrs George Morrison, of Pigeon Valley ; Miss Wadsworth teacher at Canvastown, Havelock and Mrs Chas. Burn, of Wakefield [3]
