Janet Sue Gooldy Kimbrell, born in Kansas, most recent family lines were in Missouri since the end of the Confederacy. Prior to that the Gooldy family was in Virginia mostly in Bedford County. However 4x gr grandfather Frederick Gooldy apparently was born in Maryland c 1760 and next record shows him marrying Biddy (Bridget)Brown in Botetourt County, Virginia in 1791. It is believed they resided in the Southern District of Bedford County for a period of about eight years before relocating to Northern Bedford County, Virginia. Their youngest son Alfred born in 1810 is my 3x great grandfather. He married Sophia Pollard in 1835 and they lived in the Davis Mill area . Their son William Jesse is my second great grandfather. He and his brothers served in the War, oldest brother John Frederick was killed at the Battle of Williamsburg. I am working on locating more information on Frederick and Biddy currently. I have found chancery records from 1834 in which Frederick Gooldy gave a deposition regarding land ownership of a neighbor 7 miles from his own residence for 40 years. This is the first indication I have found that Frederick was alive as late as 1834.

Three generations removed from Virginia, our line is now in Kansas. Prior to 1791, Virginia, the line is lost. And the burial dates and places of Frederick and Bridget Brown Gooldy of Bedford county, Virginia (suspected about 1820s) and Sophia Pollard Gooldy near Davis Mill, Bedford Co, Virginia, about 1851, are all unknown.
