Research Notes

  • His former mother, Joan Stewart, Countess of Morton didn't marry William Gordon. She had an additional name Janet, which is prob. the name of his mother. Burke's does not have the name of his spouse or mother.

As with any profile for a person this old, there are undoubtedly going to be conflicting sources. If you would like to put a note in the biographical section, please feel free to do so. Richardson was not a source researched at the time this profile was created, but you are free to add it.

Is there any source for who the mother was? In Richardson's Royal Ancestry she is not given this son.
