Agathe was the daughter of Jean Laurent Gosselin and Marie Pélagie Martel. She is of age when she marries in April 1803, so born before April 1782. Her parents marry in November 1773, and there are 2 children born in Sept. 1774 and Nov. 1775, then a gap of 3+ years to February 1779 for the next baptism of their children. Her funeral in 1844 gives her 73 years of age, which would put her birth in 1771, probably an overestimation by the priest. Her baptism cannot be found under that name, and she is not one of the other girls baptized in this family, who all are accounted for. The family lived in Saint-Pierre, Île d'Orléans throughout the parents' lives.[1] Date estimated.
