On July 30, 1804, in Mononhahelia County, Virginia, Mary married Thomas Lewellin (aka Llewellyn) [1] This part of Virginia became part of West Virginia at the time of the American Civil War.
Thomas Llewellyn, Jr. was born 1777, a son of Thomas Lewellen. Note: Familysearch.org gives his mother as Tabitha (unknown maiden name) Beck, however the widow Beck married his father on March 14, 1801, and she was not his mother [2] Thomas died in 1849, in Albany, Athens county, Ohio. [3]
Mary "Leewallen" is found at the age of 74 years, on the 1860 Census of Waterloo Township, Athens County, Ohio, living in the household of her son, Nathan. [4]
Mary "Polly" (Gough) Llewellyn died in 1863, in Albany, Athens County, Ohio. [5]
American Independence was declared in 1776, the same year Monongalia County was created from Virginia's District of West Augusta. Named Monongalia as it was the land of the Monongahela River, it was home to a few settlers and Native American Tribes of Delaware, Shawnees, and Iroquois.
