Biography

Thomas was born in 1690. He was the son of Samuel Graves and Deliverance Unknown and was baptized on November 21, 1690.[1][2][3]

Hartford Connecticut

Thomas Graves married to Sarah Morgan about 1712.[2][4] Thomas died in late 1713 or early 1714. The probate records of Hartford includes, "Further, and notwithstanding what has been already exprest, tis my will that my only daughter, Deliverance, at 18 years of age (if she live to it), shall have two-thirds of my estate, and the whole if she survive her mother. I appoint my wife sole executrix."[5][3]

"He married Sarah Morgan, daughter of Thomas Morgan and Rachel Merry. She was baptized 24 May 1696 in Hartford, Conn., and died 3 May 1718. She died before completing the final accounting of Thomas Graves' estate. As a result of Sarah's death, Thomas Morgan (her father) was appointed legal guardian of Deliverance Graves, a minor (Early Connecticut Probate Records, Hartford District, 1635-1750, II, p. 209; original records, vol. IX, p. 78). Sarah secondly married Jobannah Smith on 26 Sept. 1714."[4]

Sarah and Thomas's only child Deliverance Graves, was born October 21, 1713 in Hartford.[6][3]

On September 2, 1718 it was written in the probate record, "Whereas letters of Adms. on the estate of Thomas Graves, late of Hartford, was granted unto Sarah Graves, widow, and sd. Sarah dying before she made up and finished her account...". Deliverance was about five years old when guardianship was granted to the father of Sarah Morgan, Thomas Morgan. [5]

Thomas Morgan stated in his will of March 25, 1725[7]:

"Deliverance Graves and her. I give unto my daughter Rachel 10 shillings, and œ30-04-00 which is in the hands of Jobanna Smith, and half of my corn mill after my wife's decease. I give unto my grandchild, Deliverance Graves, œ10-04-00 in money which is in the hands of Jobanna Smith. I also give to my grandchild Deliverance two hefers."
