Thomas was born on 14 Oct 1849 in Sunderland, Durham, England to Thomas and Rebecca Simpson (Magog) Gray.[1] Thomas was baptized on 4 November 1849 in Sunderland, Durham, England. He was the son of Thomas Gray and Rebecca Simpson (Magog) Gray.
In 1871 he was enumerated with his parents in Bishopwearmouth, Durham, England, as a 22-year-old blacksmith.[2]
In 1881 Thomas is listed with a wife, Mary, and Four children: William, Rebeca, Anne C and Mary I, still a blacksmith in bishop Wearmouth.[3]
In 1891 the family have added four children: Thomas, Lawrence, Scott, and Elizabeth (age zero days!).[4]
In 1901, still in bishop Wearmouth, an additional son, Edwin, had been added, then age 8.[5]
In 1913, the marriage of their daughter Elizabeth to Archibald Macdonald was recorded in Cobalt, Ontario, Canada.[6]
Just six months later, on 30 Jul 1913, the death of Thomas Gray was recorded in Englehart, Ontario.[7]
