Biography

U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
Thomas Green was a Virginia colonist.

Thomas Green was born in 1665, in Virginia, son of Thomas Green and Martha Filmer, both immigrants from England, [1] though documentation exists that has both parents originating from Holland. [2]

In 1715, still living in Virginia, he married Anne Elizabeth Marston [3] with their union producing eight children, Unknown female, Elizabeth, William, Lucy, Martha, Thomas, Rebecca and Marston. [4] [5] However, the date given for the marriage (1715) and the births dates of Abraham 1705-15, William 1710, and Unknown dau (m Cowles) b1712 indicate the possibility of a 1st wife OR erroneous research. Thomas died in 1733, [6] [7] while still living in the community where he was born and raised, and where he married and raised his own children. [8] [9]

Tabitha has been reattached as a daughter with no supporting information. Any objection to my re-detaching her?

Hello all, I suggest you contace the Southern Colonies project to see if they wish to co-manage this profile. The project box isn't supposed to be used on profile unless they are Project-Managed.

Regards, Natalie

Cumberland Co., VA, didn't exist in 1665 nor 1733. It was formed in 1749 from Goochland Co., VA. It might be helpful to update the birth/death places for this Thomas Green.

Green-30828 and Green-1425 appear to represent the same person because: same wife

OK now.- one of project managers changed it back to just Thomas. Thanks Nalani.

Andrea, Did you check with the project managers when you changed the preferred name of Thomas Abner Green? (from Thomas to Thomas Abner?) what did you base you information on? Thank you

That project name is such a mouthful. I should think "American Southern Colonies" would suffice, and is closest to what those colonies would have been called back in the day.

I edited his birth and death locations and biography but I don't know who added the template for "US Southern Colonies Prior to incorporation into the USA". Like Bob Nichols wrote, back in October, about not knowing what project this profile was being protected, I didn't know either, until yesterday, when I saw the template, for the first time. Glad to know now what project Thomas Green is affiliated with (???)

To Liz,

No I meant the place names had USA, I didn't see the Project name, but Nalani Marie Kupau Brigg edited it maybe before you saw it maybe.

Whoever completes the merge between Green-7972 and Green-1425, please use birth year 1665, from Green-1425 and please use death location, Southam Parish, Cumberland County, Virginia, also from Green-1425. Thank you.

P.S. to Vincent - if you were remarking on the Project name (US Southern Colonies). US was included even though the project timeframe pre-dates US because WikiTree is global and "Southern Colonies" could apply to other countries also. (Even for the same location as "US Southern Colonies" - e.g., British Southern Colonies, French Southern Colonies, Spanish Southern Colonies). Yes, I asked :D
