He married, April 5, 1739 ("5d 2m 1739"), Mary Nichols, daughter of James Nichols of East Greenwich, Rhode Island, at the Narragansett Meeting House, then in South Kingstown, Rhode Island. James Greene was known to be "of Warwick," and was also mentioned as being "of Coventry." Most of his children were born in Coventry, so he must have lived there at least between 1740 and 1748.[3][5]
James Greene died in West Warwick, Rhode Island, on May 30, 1792, at the age of 79. He was buried at the Greene-Anthony Lot at West Warwick.[3][4]

South Kingstown, Rhode Island at Wikipedia. "The town of South Kingstown was formed in 1722 when the former Kings Towne was split into two parts. In 1888 a narrow strip of land running along the eastern bank of the Pettaquamscutt River to the shore of Narragansett Bay was separated from South Kingstown to form the town of Narragansett."

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
Greene-5648 and Greene-1787 appear to represent the same person because: They have the same birth and death years. Greene-5648 links to known son, Jonathan, but the spouse link, Lydia Nichols, should be Mary Nichols. Lydia Nichols was Jonathan's spouse.
