Biography

Thomas Greenwood, eldest son of John Greenwood and Hannah Trowbridge, was born 28 January 1696 in Newton, Massachusetts.[1][2]

In Newton, Thomas was a farmer, deacon of the church, captain in the militia, justice of the peace, selectman (4 years), representative to the general court (13 years), and town clerk (23 years). He was one of the proprietors of Paris, Maine in 1735.[2]

He married Lydia _____ on 3 August 1719.[2] They had the following children:

  1. Joseph, born 9 January 1723, married Sarah Stone[2]
  2. John, born 7 March 1725, married Elizabeth Jackson[2]
  3. Thomas, born 9 May 1727, married Esther Hammond[2]
  4. Hannah, born 21 May 1729, married Dea. John Woodward and had issue[2]

Thomas died 31 August 1774 in Newton.[3] He left a will dated 10 August 1774, naming his son-in-law, John Woodward as sole executor. In his will he named his wife Lydia, his son Thomas, the children of his son John, son Joseph and daughter Hannah.[2]

His wife's LNAB should probably be changed to Unknown as there is no source for her maiden name.
