Thomas Greer was a wealthy linen merchant who owned a number of bleach greens. He was the most influential Quaker in the north of Ireland at that time.
He was born at Grace Hall, near Lurgan. On the extinction of the male line of his elder brother John, he became the head of the second house of Ulster Greers. In 1746, he married Sarah, daughter of Thomas Greer of Redford, his second cousin. He lived in Dungannon until 1787. He died at Rhone Hill on April 3, 1803 (sometimes reported as 1805).
