Nathan enlisted in the CSA in 1861, serving with the 38th Virginia Infantry, Company B, rank Corporal. Nathan was killed in the Civil War, but site of death is in question. The Regimental series notes that Nathan DOW from the Battle of 7 Pines on 07/02/1862.
