"Edmund (Grey), Lord Grey of Ruthin, 1325, son and heir of Sir John Grey, K.G., by Constance, daughter of John Holand, Duke of Exeter, was born 26 October 1416. He had livery of his lands 9 October 1440.

"As Edmund Grey, kt. he was on commission to treat for a loan in Bedfordshire in 1440.

fought in the wars in France; succeeded grandfather in Barony of Grey of Ruthin 30 Sep 1440.

summoned to Parliament 3 Dec 1441 - 28 Feb 1462/3, by writs directed Edmundo de Grey de Ruthin chl'r. He was on numberous commissons, of oyer an terminer, &c. and was a justice of the Peace in Burks 1447, Beds 1448, Northans 1448, Hunts 1450, and 1485.

20 May 1443 and subsequently present at Privy Council; 1454 summoned to Great Council to discuss the situation in France.

Battle of Northampton, 10 July 1460, he was in command of the Royal vanguard, but went over to Yorkists as battle joined, and is considered to have been the main cause of the Lancastrian defeat.

13 March 1460/1 had protecton going abroad on pilgrimage.

Edward IV appointed him Lord Treasurer 24 June 1463.

30 May 1465 created Earl of Kent - confirmed 19 Aug 1484, 16 Oct, and 19 Nov 1485 with grant of L20 p.a. issue of county of Kent,... called Baro et Dominus de Hastings, Waysford et de Ruthyn.

Chief Justice of Merioneth 28 Aug 1465.

11 Jun 1467 at tournament in Smithfield.

3 Jul 1471, as E. Kent, ne of the Lords who, with others, swore in Parliament Chamber at Westminster to accept Edward, Prince of Wales, as heir to the Crown.
