He was knighted in 1596, and later served as MP for Grampound in 1601 & Aldeburgh in 1610.[2]
Marriage
John's wife was Elizabeth Neville.[1][2] She was the daughter Edward Neville,[1] of Birling, Kent.[2] They were married sometime before c. 1600[2]

Death
John died of smallpox, and was buried 07 October 1611 in the chapel of Broughton Astley church in Leicestershire.[2][5] His wife Elizabeth remarried to Edward Bingley of the Exchequer.[1][2]
