I found this old picture of the Old Union Hotel in 1911, the same year it was demolished. It was one of the oldest hotels in the country. It was also a tavern, owned by Joseph Gribble from 1769 through 1771.
I believe I am a direct descendant of Joseph Gribble. I believe he is the father of Thomas Gribble, the Revolutionary War soldier. Joseph was a tavern owner as described in the attached tax document of 1771 Delaware County PA:
