Biography
Susan was born about 1820 in Tennessee [1] to George Grimes and Eurydice Gardner. By 1831, she'd immigrated with her family to the colony Stephen F. Austin had begun in the Mexican state of Coahuila y Tejas. [2]
Susan married three times. First in the Republic of Texas, she married Adam Kuykendall in San Felipe, Austin County in 1838. [3] They had one known son, Amos Kuykendall, in 1839. [1]
She then married William Norcrossin August of 1842, also in San Felipe. [4] Their son, George Washington Norcross, was born in 1843. [1]
The last time she married was in July of 1845 to Wright Alford [5] with whom she had Martha Alford the same year and Isaac Alford in 1850. At this time Susan still lived in Austin County, with her four children and husband Wright. [1]
