Biography

Nicholas was born on March 7,1811 in Guernsey, Channel Islands. He was the son of James Guignon and Susanne Girard. He was a plasterer in Guernsey, but as everyone else in Roseville he turned to fishing and farming to feed his family. Although Nicolas was said to have immigrated in 1842 the certificate indicates that he married Harriette Mary Rose on December 24, 1839 at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Gaspe, Lower Canada. Witnesses signatures were Thomas Langlois, E. De La Perrelle, Daniel Guignion. He died in Roseville, Quebec May 29, 1884 in Wesleyan/Methodist Cemetery, Rose Bridge, Lower Canada. Witnesses signatures were Elias Guignion, Elias Rose, and John Rose.
