Biography

Sarah Hadley was born on 17 Aug 1762 in Orange County, North Carolina and her parents were Ruth (Lindley) and Joshua Hadley. [1]

Sarah HADLEY first married on 24 Nov 1779 at Cane Creek Monthly Meeting in Orange County, North Carolina to Eli NEWLIN. [1]

Sarah (HADLEY) NEWLIN married secondly on 15 Jan 1800 to Jeremiah PIGGOT.

She Passed away on 03 Jun 1827 [1] and was buried at Cane Creek Cemetery in Snow Camp, North Carolina. [2]

In 1967 a commemorative marrker was erected where her first husband was buried at Spring Meeting Cemetery which reads ... "In memory of Eli and Sarah Hadley Newlin. Eli Newlin was born in Penn 1775. Died a few miles from here 12-28-1790, at the age of 35. On 11-24-1779 he married Sarah Hadley, daughter of Joshua and Ruth Lindley Hadley, born 8-17-1762. Nine years after Eli's death, she married Jeremiah Piggott. She died 6-3-1827. Her burial was probably at Rocky River Friends Meeting. Their children:
