Schuyler was born about 1851. He married Flora Gilson in Wisconsin in 1872 when he was 21 and she was 16. He and Flora lived in Allamakee County and then in Grundy County, Iowa where they raised their 9 children. Sometime after 1900, Schuyler and Flora separated, and Schuyler appears in the 1910 census living with a daughter in Kansas. He passed away before 1920.

1910 US Census finds Schuyler living with his daughter Mary in Bourbon,Drywood, KS, with her husband Irving C Long, a hardware salesman and their four children.
