John William Hall was born in South Shields, County Durham, England in 1866, a son to John William Hall (1842-) and Martha Ann Cubitt (1847-). (Only likely birth registration on FamilySearch is 1865 : [1] )

Marriage

John married Elizabeth (Ellerby) Hall (1862-) in South Shields in 1890. [2]

Life Story

In the 1881 Census John is 15 yrs old and working as a messenger, living with his family at Cleveland Street, Westoe. [4]

John (25 yrs, of South Shields) and Elizabeth (29 yrs) were living at Westoe in 1891 with their baby daughter, Nellie. John is shown on the census as a butcher journeyman. [5]

Death

Research Note

On 3 September 1890, Eleanor Brand Hall, of 54 Dale Street, born 5 August 1890, child of John (butcher) & Elizabeth Hall was baptised at St Hilda, South Shields. Nellie's birth was registered with her mother's maiden name of Brand, but perhaps that was Elizabeth's mother's maiden name. (source needed)
