The marriage records of Wilson County, Tennessee show that Bettie Hallam and Wm B Saunders married on 8 October 1851.
The will of William Bowen Saunders makes it clear that Bettie’s father was William Hallam, not Robert. See the comment I posted on her husband’s page.
Bettie married again. On 29 January 1863, she married Saml L Calhoun (Wilson County, Tennessee, records). Census records indicate that he was also widowed, and he had a small son, Frank Calhoun. Bettie and Samuel had a son, Alex Calhoun. The family was together for the 1870 census, but Bettie and Samuel had parted by 1880. She took back the name Saunders. I would be grateful for the evidence that she lived till about 1919. I can’t find her after 1900.
