As a young man he went to Butte, Montana where he lived with his Uncle Silas Hane. While there he was employed as an attendant in an insane asylum. He was a woodsman, an Adirondack guide and an avid hunter. By trade, Len was a paper hanger. In 1927 at the age of 66 he became the New York State Lookout of Fort Noble Observation Tower in Hamilton County. He was so employed until he retired in 1935. In 1937 he entered the Masonic Home in Utica NY where he died on November 21, 1941 at the age of 80. [1]
