Barnabas Hamblin was baptised on 26 April 1739 in Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. He is the son of Sylvanus Hamblin and Dorcas Fish.[1]
Barnabas lived during the events that led up to the Boston Tea Party and eventually the Revolutionary War against Great Britain. After the US colonies won their independence, Barbabas moved his family to the town of Falmouth, located southwest of Barnstable on Cape Cod. In Falmouth, Barnabas and his eldest son, Sylvanus, were among the first millers at the wind mill owned by Joseph Bowerman.
He married Mary Bassett on 23 November 1769 in Barnstable.[2][3][4] They had nine children.
He moved to Montpelier, Washington County, Vermont in about 1795 from Cape Cod.
Barnabas passed away at an age of fifty-two on May 10, 1799 in Montpelier. He is buried in the Green Mount Cemetery in Montpelier. [5]
