Biography

David was born about 1725.

In the 1790 census David was in York, South Carolina.[1]

David arrived in 1773 in Maryland[2]

He passed away in 1801.

David and his wife Jean had at least four children born in Avondale Parish, Lanarkshire:

James b 25 Mar 1744
Janet b 5 Mar 1746
Catherine b 19 Jan 1748
David b 15 Jan 1750

David and his wife and four children are thought to have immigrated to Little Rock Pennsylvania around 1757-58.

David's estate passed probate in 1801 in South Carolina.[3]

Hamilton-2555 and Hamilton-670 appear to represent the same person because: Same date and place of birth. Same wife (apparently). Both died in 1801 in South Carolina.

Note that I have not researched this family.

I greatly think the lineage here of David is incorrect as 1. David Hamilton is said to be from Scotland. 2. I found documentation of David having landed and worked in Hopewell Township, PA, where he was a highway supervisor, managed the poorhouses, and tax collector in the region. 3. He received land grants for York County, SC and moved his entire family there. His first three children were listed as having been born in Scotland, and the latter in Pennsylvania. This suggests that the John Hamilton listed here as David's father is incorrect. It does not mean his father's name is or isn't John Hamilton, but that the one listed above is the incorrect Hamilton.

Hello. It looks as if the wrong parents are linked to this David Hamilton as it states he was born in Scotland and immigrated to South Carolina however the parents and all siblings attached were born and died in Massachusetts.
