Biography

Ambrose Hammon was born in 1722 in Caroline, Virginia. He married Ann Morgan and had four children: sons Robert and John and daughters Mary Johnson, Elizabeth Amburgey. These are the only family members mentioned in his will^[1] . He died in June 1794, in Wilkes, North Carolina, at the age of 72. His name is recorded at times as Hamon or Hammon and at others as Hammons.
