After some digging in the reference below, I find that Jonas Hammond's info does appear to be correct. However, he and Joshua Hammond are two different people. This is Joshua Hammond's gravestone.
Hello there, I don't know who Jonas Hammond is (probably a cousin) but I believe this is the headstone of my ancestor, Joshua Hammond. He was born and died in Newton, Middlesex Co, Mass. Born March 10, 1720, died Dec 31, 1792. The headstone says Joshua, not Jonas. He was the son of John Hammond and Margaret Wilson. He married Elizabeth Prentice May 15, 1739. She was born Aug 26, 1714, and died Apr 12, 1798. These relationships are well-documented, "The DAR Lineage Book Vol 20" is one example; "A History of the Early Settlement of Newton, County of Middlesex, Mass." by Francis Jackson is another.
Many other ancestors from this line are buried in this cemetery.
