Calvin Hammond was born February 16, 1800 in Windsor, Vermont, second son of Jabez Holmes Hammond and Polly Rowe. A farmer and a laborer, he married Lucy McGrath on January 1, 1829. Together, they produced five children, 1 boy and 4 girls. [1][2]
In the 1830 US Census, Calvin is 30 years of age, and living with his wife and one child in Windsor, Windsor, Vermont, USA. Calvin (1 White Male, age 30-39 years old), Lucy his wife (1 White Female, 20-29 years old), and 1 Male Child less than 5 years old (Henry Holmes, who would've been born that year). [3]
In the 1840 US Census, Calvin is 40 years of age, and living with his wife and four children, in Windsor, Windsor, Vermont, USA. Calvin (1 White Male, age 40-49 year old), Lucy his wife (1 White Female, 30 to 39 years old), 1 Male Child aged 5 to 9 (Henry Holmes), 1 Female Child aged 5 to 9 years (Lucy Ann), and 2 Female Children under 5 years of age (Sarah Lovina and Melissa Sophia). In the 1850 US Census, Calvin is 50 years of age, and living with his wife and 2 children, in West Windsor, Windsor, Vermont, USA. List: [5]
In 1870, he is still living in West Windsor, but only with his wife Lucy. [6]
Calvin died in West Windsor, Vermont, March 4, 1874, [1] and was buried in Brownsville Cemetery. [7][8]
