DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
Henry Hand b. 1779? Did he have descendants in Randolph Co. Va. now WVA. Mary Hand b. 1755 married a Benjamin Schoonover and died
in Randolph Co. Va. Several Honn, Hawn, and Hahn family members were living with her grandschildren - I cannot connect them to a Hahn family and I think perhaps they are Hand descendants. My Julia Ann Hahn b. 1836 was living with A.H. Bowman on the 1850 Randolph Co. census, her mother Eliza Honn age 46 was living with Henry Bowman and wife Margaret Wilmoth Bowman who was a granddaughter of Mary Hand. A Catherine Hawn age 22 was living with Levi Wilmoth and family, he too was a
grandson of Mary Hand. My family says Julia Ann's parents were an Eliza (the one living with Margaret Wilmoth Bowman) and a Hulstein or Henry Hulstein Hahn? could it be
Hand? I sure need some help on this. I believe Eliza Honn b. 1804 must have been widowed and her family was scattered and living with relatives.
Death 1841 Elkins, Randolph, WV
Burial 1841 Elkins, Randolph, WV at Mount Zion Church Cemetery
