Prudence, whose maiden name is not known, married Lt. Joseph Rogers by 1691 (birth of first child), perhaps at Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts Bay Province, New England.[1]
They had 3 children born Eastham:[2][3]
Sarah Rogers, b: 20 Nov. 1691, in Eastham
Elizabeth Rogers, b: 22 Sep. 1693, in Eastham
Joseph Rogers Jr., b: 1694, in Eastham
Joseph Rogers Sr. died at Eastham on April 24, 1696, of a "Strange distemper of which he had long lain Sick." (Deacon John Payne).[4] He was only 28 years old. His estate was settled May 22, 1696, divided among his widow, Prudence Rogers, and their 3 young children: Joseph, Sarah and Elizabeth.[5][6][7]
On October 25, 1700, Prudence Rogers remarried to Malchiel Atwood.[8] They had the following children together, all in Truro, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts Bay Province, New England:[9][10]
Joseph Atwood b: 1 Oct 1701 in Pamet (Truro), Barnstable, MA
Rebeckah Atwood b: 3 Aug 1704 in Pamet (Truro), Barnstable
Machiel Atwood b: 5 Aug 1706 in Pamet (Truro), Barnstable

Prudence Atwood died on July 28, 1713 in Truro, Barnstable, Massachusetts Bay, New England, giving birth to her last child, daughter Apphia Atwood.[11] (A better source is needed for this death, not found in any of the Barnstable Co. vital records, as Atwood or Wood.)
Disputed maiden name and parents

Birth Date: 1666 in Truro, Barnstable, Plymouth Colony, New England.[7]

↑ NOTE: Some genealogies state she was born in 1676 not 1667; others state that her surname may not have been Harding but offer no alternative. Joseph & Bethia Harding were among the 1st settlers of Truro, Barnstable, Plymouth Colony. No other suitable parents have been found for a daughter, Prudence, born there and then. Marking parents "Uncertain" in keeping with WikiTree style guidelines. Chet Snow, July 7, 2017.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Prudence by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Prudence:
Hello to my fellow PMs: I'm working on the family members of descendants of Mayflower passengers. The "Silver Book" for the Rogers family states that Prudence's maiden name is unknown. Chet's note under sources is the only source for her being the daughter of the Hardings. I have located the family record for the parents in the original Eastham VRs here, in which all of their other children are given, but no Prudence. Does anyone have a reliable source for her parents? If not, I'd like to propose that we change her to maiden name "Unknown," and remove the parents. If there are no objections I'd like to do so soon. Please let me know your thoughts.
