John Harlan is descendent number 68 in the Harlan Family In America Registry as written by Alpheus H. Harlan. Do not confuse him with another John Harlan (1716- ), the son of James Harlan and Elizabeth Unknown who was also born about 1716. According the the "Harlan Book" that other John Harlan is #44. The two men were second cousins.
According to the Harlan Book, John Harlan was the son of George Harlan and Mary Bailey, born about 1716 in Kennett Township, Chester, Pennsylvania. His date of death is not known, but he died in Newlin Township, and was buried at Bradford Meeting House. He married Sarah Wickersham in 1740.[1]
