Biography

Baptized by Rev. A. W. Lindler in St. John's Church. Confirmed by Rev. J. D. Bowles in Corinth Church in Saluda, SC. Attended Newberry College for several years and studied under his uncle, Sidney Calhoun Ballentine, pastor of Bethel Lutheran at White Rock, SC. Attended Lutheran Theological Seminary and ordained on November 11, 1906. Pastored congregations in Prosperity, Newberry, Little Mountain, White Rock, and Johnston, SC, and Senioa, GA. Received doctor of divinity degree from Newberry College in 1946 and served on its board of trustees. Retired from active ministry December 31, 1945.
