Biography

Edward Harries was born in the Colony of Queensland (1859-1900)

Edward Gilbert Southam Robert Harries was born on 29 September 1875 in Tambo, Queensland. He was the son of Edward Decimus Harries and Elizabeth Jane Nurcombe.^[1]

On 17 March 1901 in St Andrew's Church of England, Longreach, he married Maude Mary Scanlan.^[2]

It is announced in the "Commonwealth Government Gazette" of the 12th instant that Mr. E. G. S. R. Harries, despatching officer at the Longreach Post Office, has been appointed despatching officer of the mail branch in the place of Mr. E. Lough- ran, promoted.

Edward died on 29 June 1944 in Brisbane^[4] and was interred in Toowong Cemetery, Por 2A, Sect 27, #9-10.^[5]
