Biography

Elijah was born April 4, 1762 in Brown's Cove, Albemarle County, English Colony of Virginia. He was the first-born son of Robert Harris and Lucretia Brown. [1]

In about 1802 Elijah Harris married Karey Forkner, b: 1783 in North Carolina. They married in Surry County, North Carolina, USA. The couple had at least 2 daughters:

  1. Susan Harris, b: 1805 in Surry, NC, USA
  2. Eliza Harris, b: March 1812 in Grayson Co., Virginia, USA

In the 1830s, Elijah Harris and his family left the NC / VA border area and moved west to Knox County, Tennessee.

Elijah Harris died shortly after the 1840 US Census in Knox County, Tennessee, USA. He is listed on the 1840 US Census as 60-70 years old; living in Knox Co., Tennessee, with his wife, also 60-70 yrs., and a young male, 15-20 years old.[2]
