Charlotte Elizabeth Harris was born in 1840 at Wolverton in Buckinghamshire ^{[1] [2] [3]}.

Henry Allen, aged 26, a draper, of Charlbury, son of William Smith Allen, draper; and Charlotte Elizabeth Harris, aged 20, of Charlbury, daughter of Joshua Harris, deceased, grocer; were married at the parish church of Charlbury in Oxfordshire on 20 March 1861 ^{[2] [4]}.

A few days later in 1861 Charlotte E. Allen was living in Church Street in Charlbury with her husband Henry. Her age was given as 20, implying a birth date in 1840 or 1841. Her birthplace was given as Woolverton Station, Buckinghamshire ^[3].
