He married Hannah Curtis on December 15, 1775 at Wallingford, CT.

Census Records in Litchfield include 1790 [1], 1800 [2], 1810 [3], 1820 [4], and 1830 [5]

Benjamin Hart removed from Wallingford to Litchfield soon after the war of the revolution. He was one of the non-commissioned officers who wintered at Valley Forge, and was present at the delivery of Washington's farewell address to the army. He took his first deed of land in Litchfield, February 22d, 1786, and two others the same year. His wife died at Litchfield, April 2d, 1833, aged 79 years. He died January 80th, 1831, aged 78 years, 10 months, and 25 days. They were buried on Litchfield Hill.

Benjamin and Hannah (Curtis) Hart had 10 children, Lois (1775-?), Benjamin (1779-?), Phebe (1782-?), Lucy (1782-?), Hanna (1783-?),), Johnathan (1786-?), ? (ca. 1787/93-?), ? (ca. 1787/93-?), Isaac (1788-1834) and Lydia (1794-1861).
