There was a Hastings family who held Ashhill in Norfolk by a dapifership serjeantry already in the early twelfth century, but Swaffham was not one of the Norfolk places associated with them. See Hastings-626. This family did have several 13th century Johns such as Hastings-1246 and Hastings-120.
It is quite possible that this originated as John Lord Hastings, but got attached to the wrong parents and had the dates modified to make that fit, and then imported to WikiTree. If no evidence turns up may be best to merge him away.
