Biography

Margaret was born November 1846 in Darlington Township, Durham county, Ontario. She was the daughter of George Hatherly and Eliza Colwill.

In 1851, she is with her parents and siblings in Darlington Township.[1]

In 1861, she and her family are still in Darlington Township.[2]

She married her 1st cousin William Peardon in 1869 in Eagle, Waukesha, Wisconsin and along with their 2 sons, they all spent the rest of their lives in that town.

In the 1870 Census, William, 24 and Margaret, 23 had a newborn baby son Ernest and with them was William's brother Philip, 22.

In 1880, William is listed as a "wagon maker" with wife Margaret and sons Ernest and Frank.[3]

According to the 1900 Census, William was a "farmer" and Margaret "kept house" and the two of them had been married for 30 years. Margaret doesn't indicate anything regarding immigration but he stated he and his parents had come to America in 1846.[4]

In 1910, William, 64 and Margaret, 63 have their son Ernest, 38 and single with them. William indicated once again that he had immigrated in 1856 and Margaret in 1870 {the latter wasn't quite true because they married the year previous and son Ernest was born in Nov 1869}[5]

Margaret died in 1928 in Eagle and was buried in Melendys Prairie Cemetery there, next to her husband and 2 sons.[6]
