Funeral services for all the members of the Tippens family, who were killed in a car-train crash southwest of Elk City on Wednesday afternoon, were held simultaneously at the Martin Funeral Home Chapel Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Elk City.
Rev. Darrell Bratten of the Prairie View Baptist Church officiated and burial was in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon.
The driver of the car, Alcy D. Tippins, was born Sept. 16, 1909, in Hammon and died at 55 years of age. He was married to Eddith Jirldine Hays on Aug. 14, 1933, and they resided in Hammon and Elk City for the past six years.
Mrs. Tippens was born May 1, 1913, and was 51 years old at the time of her death.
Their daughter, Nancy, who also died in the wreck, was born Dec. 18, 1948, in Tulare, Calif.
Other children surviving Mr. and Mrs. Tippens include Mrs. Elizabeth E. Cowan, Elk City, Mrs. Odessa Gray, Elk City, Mrs. Jirldine Kerwood, Houston and A. W. Tippens, Myrtle Beach, S. Carolina.
The two other occupants of the car, Robert Levi Tippens, Jr. and his sister, Stella Louise Tippens, are survived by their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Levi Tippens, Sayre, two sisters, and two brothers.
