Penolepe Hazard was a daughter of Elizabeth (Raymond; 1720-) and Oliver Hazard (1710-1792) of South Kingstown, Kings (now Washington) County, Rhode Island.
Penolepe married Trustam Stedman, probably about 1771 or '72, probably in Rhode Island. There were perhaps twelve children of this family, as listed in their online memorial sites (sequence approximate per known birth dates):
The Trustam and Penolepe Stedman family resided principally in western Massachusetts, in or near Tyringham, where all of the children were born. In later life, they migrated to central New York State, settling in or near Lee, in newly laid out Oneida County (note that this was not the village of Oneida, in Madison County).
According to her grave marker, Penolepe (Hazard) Stedman died Sep. 10, 1839, aged 87 years; this approximates her birth during the timeframe from late 1751 until the 10 September date in 1752. Her grave is in Evergreen Cemetery, Lee, Oneida County, New York, USA [1].
The cited online memorial site contains a naming error in its header panel: 'T' was not her middle initial. The stone inscription states that she was WIFE of T. STEDMAN.
As best can be determined, her given name was spelled Penolepe, and her surname was Hazard. No evidence of alternative spellings of either name has been put forth.
