George Washington Heard was born October 26, 1836, in Tennessee, a son of William Heard and Artelier Webb. George served with Company E, of the 6th Regiment Tennessee Mounted Infantry. [1]
On January 12, 1860, in Sequatchie county, George married Clarissa Adaline Pankey. [2] George and "Addaline" are found on the United States Census of 1870, with five children. [3]
George W Heard and "Adline C." are found on the 1900 Census, after 40 years of marriage, the house still full of children and grandchildren. [4]
Clarissa (Pankey) Heard died January 10, 1917, in Sequatichie county, Tennessee and is buried in the Rankin Cemetery. George Washington Heard died October 28, 1922, and is buried with her. There are photographs of their headstones and of their death certificates on their Find A Grave memorials.
