Samuel Heavner was born 15 Sep 1791 in Brandywine, Pendleton, Virginia.[1]
Samuel Hefner was the son of John Jacob & Mary Mallow Hefner. In 1813, he married Mary Elizabeth Propst, and they had 7 known children: Jonathan Hefner, Jacob Hefner, Nimrod Dove Hefner, Elizabeth Jane Hefner Creamer, Amanda Hefner Hatfield, and Cornelia Hefner Eson.
He was enumerated in the 1850 Federal Census in 30th District of Lewis County, Virginia census as a farmer. According to the Upshur County, WV history, he was also a blacksmith.
Sometime between 1850 & 1855, he disappears from the records. His wife, Mary Elizabeth Propst Hefner moves to McLean County, IL in 1855, residing near her brother-in-law, Michael Hefner.
