Biography

Birth

Christine Helm was born on February 17, 1891 in Java, SD to Ludwig Helm and Margaretha (Hieb) Helm. She was the fourth of their 5 children. Christina was baptized on November 18, 1888.[1]


Education

There are attendance records of 2 years of Christine's attendance in Elementary School from 1904 though 1905 near her home in Java, SD. She was 12-13 years old.[2][3]


Family

Christina married twice: On November 9, 1909, at the age of 18, Christine married John Naasz (1888-1947) in Java, SD.[4]

Children:
  1. Edna (1910-1992): Married Jacob Delzer (1900-1953), 5 children.
  2. Elsie Eleonora (1912-2007): Married twice: Richard Schauer (1912-1979), 2 children: Henry Rau (1907-2000), no children.
  3. Gerhard (1914-1915): Died at the age of 7 months.
  4. Milbert (1916-1987): Married Dorothy Oblander (1926-1997), 1 child.
  5. Ervin (1918-2019): Married Betty Bayers (1923-2006), divorced and re-married her 4 months later. 1 child.
  6. Lucille Violet (1928-1995): Twin. Married twice: Harry Clausing (1916-1985), 2 children; Eugene Shima (1932-Living).
  7. Lucinda Vida (1928-2018): Twin. Married Allen Propp (1929-Living), 3 children.
  8. Gladys Irene (1932-1935): Died at age 3.

On April 10, 1956, at the age of 65, Christina married Andrew Bauer (1889-1976) in Napoleon, ND.[5]


Death

On April 19, 1979, at the age of 88, Christine passed away in Billings, MT. She is buried in Pleasantview Cemetery in Ballantine, MT.[6][7]

Obituary[8]
Christine Bauer, formerly of Pompeys Pillar and Worden, died Thursday at age 88 in Western Manor. Her hobbies were crocheting and gardening.

Born in Java, S.D., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Helm, she married John Naasz in 1909 in Java, where they ranched until 1921. They moved from Napoleon, N.D. to Pompeys Pillar in 1936, and farmed at Worden until 1947, when Mr. Naasz died.

In 1958 she married Andrew Bauer and lived in Napoleon. After his death she returned to Montana.

Survivors include two sons, Milbert Naasz and Ervin Naasz, both of Worden; four daughters, Mrs. Edna Delzer of Napoleon, Mrs. Elsie Schauer of Steele, N.D., Mrs. Allen (Lucinda) Propp of Worden and Mrs. Robert L. (Lucille) Smith of 233 Fairpark Drive; a brother, Christ Helm of Selby, S.D., 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Worden in Bethlehem Congregational Church. Burial will be in Ballantine, in Pleasantview Cemetery, with Dahl Funeral Chapel of Billings in charge.

Age 59, living in Yellowstone County, MT with her daughter. She was widowed and doing housework.[17]
