His father, John Herbert alias Wilkinson, made his will in 1669 in Lower Norfolk County.
15 Jan 1669 - in the will of John Herbert alias Wilkinson he leaves his land to be equally divided between his sonne John and "ye rest of my wife's sonnes." To be delivered at the age of 21 years, "If that child my wife now goes with bee a boy, then his share to equal all the rest." "If any of the aforesaid children shall dye before they attayn to the age aforesaid or without heirs, his or their part to returne to those that survive." "1/3 of Personal & real estate to well beloved wife, Mary Herbert, during her natural life or marriage." "The other 2/3s to be divided between all my wife's children that is now living". ,„ — ~ (E 185a LNc)
John's wife Hannah Horne had been married to Abel Flewellen prior and had three children.
These children were Edward, Richard, and Mary.
Lower Norfolk County, Virginia Deed book 4 and page 22. 15 Aug 1677. 1677 - John Herbert's sons-in-law (step sons) Richard Flewellen, Edward Flewellen, and (step-dau) Mary Flewellen to receive certain cattle etc. at age of 16, Mary to receive hers at age 16. (Nco 4DB22a)
Note that the name of these children is clearly spelled with an F as in Flewellen. Although the record indicates that these were his sons in law and daughter in law they were actually the children of his wife from her former marriage and where John's step children.
Notes made by author and researcher Alice Granberry in her genealogy work on the Herbert family of England and Virginia.
(Note: The following deeds, although partially missing, further substantiate the relationships. Enough of the original records are left to indicate that the boundaries, laid out in the division of land in 1682, or by JOHN HERBERTS 1669 will, are being corrected to their own satisfaction. AGW)

Where was the land that his plantation was on in Lower Norfolk County?
Suggest the wife was Johanna Mortene, goddaughter named in Johanna Yate's will. The Johanna or Hanna Horne was an underage orphan in 1662, and the first Llewelyn child, Edward, was born n 1662, meaning she could not have been the married mother. Which in turn means she is not the one that married Herbert.
