Lurana was born June 24, 1830. She was the daughter of John Herman. She married Daniel Starnes about 1853/54. From that union 3 sons were born, Waitsel Avery Starnes, David Alexander Starnes and Abram Jackson Starnes. Her husband Daniel passed away before 1870, probably in Alexander County, North Carolina. She would remained a widow.
In 1878 her father John passed away. According to John Herman's probate records, years prior to Johns death, (exact date illegible), John granted his daughter Lurana 50 acres, which was part of an 150 acre tract that he owned, resided on, and later would died on. This 50 acre parcel would later become a dispute between his daughter Lurana Starnes and Barbary (Herman) Eckard, (Lurana Starnes vs Barbary Eckard), later to be proved and settled in favor of Lurana.
Lurana passed away October 18, 1904, probably in Wittenberg Township, Alexander County, North Carolina.
