Mary Hickey arrived in South Australia on the "Birman" in 1840. On the same ship was her brother Michael who died on the voyage, his wife and two children. Also Julia Hickey. Apparently Michael's wife and children returned to Ireland.
Mary Hickey's father is said to have been called Michael.
Mary Hickey married Gordon Mainwaring on 5 July 1843 at St John's Church of England, Adelaide, South Australia.[1]

On the 1871 census Mary Mainwaring was at 94 Gloucester Place, St Mary, Marylebone, London with her husband, five of her children and servants. She stated she was 48 (born about 1823) and born Limerick, Ireland.[2]
From The Standard (London):
On Christmas-day, suddenly, at Brighton, Mary, widow of the late Gordon Mainwaring, of Whitmore Hall Staffordshire, aged 68. Died at 1 Lansdowne Mansions. Cause of death glycosuria coma. Son F Rowland Mainwaring present at death.
Mary's death (age 68) was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1890 in the Steyning district.[3]
Mary Mainwaring's estate passed probate on 19 February 1891.[4]

Shared X-DNA of Rafe de Crespigny and JW, great great grand daughter of Ann (Hickey) Massy (abt. 1823 - abt. 1845) indicates that Ann Hickey and Mary Hickey may be related, however the cousinship has yet to be discovered.
