Biography

Birth

Christian was born on September 23, 1851 in the village of Neudorf in the Glückstal district of the Odessa area and Black Sea region of South Russia to Jakob Hieb and Friederike (Deile) Hieb. He was the fifth of their 9 children. Christian was baptized on October 7, 1851.[1].


Family

In 1873, at the age of 22, Christian married Magdalena Neiffer (1855-1928) in Neudorf.[2]

Immigration

On May 13, 1874, at the age of 22, Christian and his wife arrived in Baltimore, MD aboard the S.S. Hermann traveling from Bremen, Germany.[3]


Death

On January 2, 1903, at the age of 51, Christian passed away in South Dakota.[4][5]
