Black Sea Germans
Margaretha (Hieb) Sattler was a Black Sea German.

Birth

Margaretha was born on August 27, 1850 in the village of Neudorf in the Glückstal district of the Odessa area and Black Sea region of South Russia to Balthasar Hieb and Carolina (Ohlauser) Hieb. She was the seventh of their 10 children. Margaretha was baptized on August 28, 1850.[1][2]


Family

In 1872, around the age of 22, Margaretha married Friedrich Sattler (1850-1920).[2]

Immigration

On May 13, 1874, at the age of 23, Margaretha, her husband, and 1 child arrived in Baltimore, MD aboard the S.S. Hermann traveling from Bremen, Germany.[3][2]


Death

On August 6, 1918, at the age of 67, Margaretha passed away in Avon, SD. She is buried in First German Baptist Church Cemetery in Avon.[2][4]
