Henry Hieronymus was born in Loudoun county, Virginia, a son of Johann Frantz Hieronymus, who immigrated from the Palatinate area of Austria/Germany. His father's anglicized name of "Francis" is used by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Henry's mother was Elizabeth Rector. [1]

According to one source, Henry's first wife was Elizabeth Bartlett Oldaker, born 1761, in Loudoun county, Virginia, married 1785, in Loudoun county, Virginia. Elizabeth died 1811, in Kentucky. [3]
