Biography

CAUTION: The Mayflower Society[1] and the Thomas Rogers Society[2] disagree with some of the points put forth in John Crowe and his descendants, a genealogy.[3]

From the Mayflower Society:

Experience Higgins was born between 1699 and 1702, probably at Eastham, based on her age at marriage and the residence of Jonathan Higgins.
Father There are no documents to prove that Experience was the daughter of Jonathan HIggins. She and her two sisters, Thankful and Hannah, are generally accepted as Jonathan's daughters. There is a possibility they are daughters to Jonathan's brother, Joseph.
Mother Here again the lack of records leaves a certain amount of doubt. Her father Jonathan was married to Lydia (Sparrow) Freeman, but he may have had a first wife, of whom nothing is known.

From the Crow and Higgins genealogies:

Experience Higgins was born circa 1699, the daughter of Jonathan Higgins and Lydia Sparrow of Eastham, Massachusetts[4][3]

Marriage: On March 3, 1719, she married John Crowell, in Eastham,[3][5] [4] He was the son of John and Sarah (______) according to the Mayflower Society and the Thomas Rogers Society.[1] The Crowe Genealogy claims that Sarah was Sarah, eldest daughter of David and Jane O'Kellia.[3][6]

Death "Widow Experince Crowell departed this life July 21st 1777 "[7][1]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Experience by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Experience:

All the discrepancies are well explained, Anne. The only thing I quibble with is their place of marriage, which should probably be Eastham. The marriage was recorded at Eastham, though the record states that John was "of Yarmouth". It should also perhaps show an end date of 21 Jul 1777.
