Biography

When Benjamin Franklin Hill and his twin brother Joseph Russell were born on March 7, 1826, in Tennessee, their father, William, was 33, and their mother, Jane, was 35. He married Alice Amy Miles and they had five children:

  • Robert Napoleon (1851–1939)
  • Isabella Jane (1853–1854)
  • William Thomas (1854–1911)
  • Elizabeth Jane (1857–1883)
  • James 'Jim' Anderson Sr (1860–1948)[1][2]

Alice died early 1860, possibly in childbirth (James was enumerated in Oct 1860 as being 5/12 months old but Alice is not on the census with the family) He then married Margaret Emily Dobbs on October 11, 1860 in Cass County[3] and they had eight children:

  • Frances Leah (1863–1921)
  • Benjamin Franklin Jr (1866–)
  • Reuben Cole (1868–1890)
  • Mary Isabelle (1872–1946)[4]
  • Rachel Lenora (1874–1957)[5]
  • Samuel Columbus (1877–1920)
  • Esther Viola (1879–1940)[6]
  • Charles 'Charley' David (1883–1948)

He died on October 8, 1901, in Grandview, Texas, having lived a long life of 75 years, and was buried there.[7]
